The Mavs and Snow

This week has already been pretty different than usual, which is fun.

Boy, do I have a story to tell...it's a good one too. I was at the dps on Tuesday getting a new license (because I lost mine). There was a very cute guy in line, it wasn't my turn to go stand in line yet, I faced the hard decision of what to do: wait my turn, or go talk to this very nice looking boy...I chose to break the rules and go talk to the guy, which later turned out to be the best decision I could have made. I walk up and say hi, he said ''hello'' and I notice that he has an accent, I ask where he is from and he tells me that he had just moved here from London a couple weeks ago. I was holding my keys which have my brothers mavericks key chain on it, he noticed and asked if I liked the mavericks, I said yes, and he told me how he had called into a radio station to request a song, and ended up winning 2 tickets to a game, he said ''I know nothing about basketball, and I don't particularly like it...would you like the tickets?''. I was shocked. He pulled the tickets out of his wallet and showed them to me, I noticed how good these tickets were(price:$75 each!). I told him he should try to sell them, and he said ''nah, you seem like a nice girl, i want to give them to you.'' I couldn't believe it...I think I might have married him if he had asked me at that second. So he gave me the tickets, we separated to get our licenses made, and I never saw him again. That's the sad part of the story, the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING part: I got to go the Mav's game, and they won! It was so fun...if you happen to read this nice English man: call me in a couple months when I'm 18, and thank you!

It's sleeting/snowing outside today. I'm wearing 4 layers, drinking hot tea, and listening to Christmas music. It's perfect. After school today Monica, Danielle and I had to make the long trek out to our cars, where we found it took all three of us to open up 1 car door, and that scraping ice off the windows isn't as easy as it looks. We had fun though, we always do.

If you look close enough you can see the little wonderful snowflakes. :)

wahoo cold!

Thankful.

I'm thankful for my friends.
We celebrated Robyn's 18th birthday on Tuesday, and we had so much fun. I love spending time with the girls, laughing, being ridiculous, it's great. Robyn got a great variety of gifts, from a bite sized gnome, to her shoes the let me borrow a year ago. As tradition calls for, she got Pocahontas back, and we got the delicious volcano dessert.

I'm thankful for these little faces.
Seeing my Dad, Step Mom, Chloey and Dominick was such a blessing that I really needed. The second they walked in the door Chloey said ''sissy!!'' and ran over and held up her arms inviting me to pick her up. Her little voice makes me smile. Of course Dominick had his hilarious choice of words as usual, once when he was carrying Chloey around (when she didn't want to be carried) she was crying, and I said ''Dominick, please put her down, and leave her alone.'' his response: ''gosh, she just has got the devil in her!'' They are the cutest, and what a perfect time for them to be here.

I'm thankful for my salvation.
These past couple of days have made me so grateful to be a child of God. Without His comfort, and love, I truly don't know where I would be. Him rescuing me, coming into my heart and calling me His, is a miracle. I adore His beautiful, unfailing love. My hope and my prayer is that everyone around me will also someday come to know and adore that love. I need diligence and guidance in this time, I know in my heart that He will provide.

Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and worship acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ''God is a consuming fire.''

''Turning hatred into love is not a fast process.''

Sorry I have been so lame about updating, I have come here many times to do so, but just haven't had much to write about...so here it is...

All State was this weekend. 4th round auditions were on Friday, I was the 3rd person to sing, I usually wouldn't like that, but it was good to sing, and get it over with. We left denton around 10:00, and had to be back up at the school at 7:00 for the region choir clinic on Saturday. It was a long, long day of standing and singing. I really liked our clinician though, I could tell he was really passionate about what he does, he said the coolest quotes all day long, that inspired me to sing with more heart. One thing he said that really made me mean what I was singing was when we were singing The Conversion of Saul, a song about the story of Saul forsaking God, and turning from Saul to Paul, God is so angry in the beginning and at the end of the song it turns from angry Latin with minor chords, to a major sounding English part that says ''fall down on your knees, turn hatred into love. turn darkness into light.'' We were kind of rushing, and not feeling it at all, the director stopped us and said ''turning hatred into love is not a fast process, look at where we are in the world, look around at what my generation has done, turning hatred into love isn't quick, look at my hands, follow me. Your generation has a chance to change all this hate, but it is not going to happen quickly. Do not rush me.'' After he said that, the feeling of the entire song changed. I love singing with that choir, it was amazing, the sound, the way everyone listens and cares about what the director is saying, and then tries to fix it. We sounded really great, I got chills hearing the sound...I love that. Our last song was ''Let everything that hath breath (praise the Lord)'' ( a gospel piece) and it was so fun to sing, I loved how every single one of our songs was worshipful. People who don't know the Lord were worshiping Him, singing His praises....ah....it was great. All seriousness aside, we also had an amazing time doing our favorite thing in choir to pass the time...jawling...so, here is some entertainment...

Lindsey and Bridget...one of the best of the day.

Caitlin, Kiki and Henry.

Bridget, Kelsey and I. wow.
and one more finish off the post...

So that was my weekend. Last week was really a slow week. I did quit my job though, which was hard for me to do. I really didn't want to do it, I love where I work, the people, the atmosphere, and just the job in general, but I just wasn't making enough. I'm planning on applying at Starbucks, and hopefully once I get the job there I'll start working pretty quickly and start bringing in the dough.

I'm looking forward to this week, no school, very little work and my family is coming on wednesday. It will be a good week.

Have a happy Thanksgiving! :)

The New Place

I think that I like these things more than xanga. So, I'm starting one.

I'm baking a cake right now for my sister (it's her 12th birthday today). It smells so good, and it's going to take all that I have to not eat it before I give it to her. I love baking. I love eating the batter, and licking my fingers after putting the icing on, then seeing the end result, (hopefully) a delicious thing to eat that makes people happy. Baking is good.

There is a lot going on right now, I'm ready for things to calm down, but not expecting them to until thanksgiving break, which thankfully is only about a week away. I'm excited for thanksgiving. My dad, stepmom, and siblings are coming here from Brownwood, and staying at my grandparents for the week, so that's where I will be. It's been quite a while since I have seen them, and it's always fun to see how much the kids have grown. It will be good to see them.

I love autumn. It's such a pretty time outside. I went walking around behind my house in the trails about a week ago, and it was so peaceful and beautiful. The different colors, leaves falling all around you, the soft breeze, the perfect amount of coolness where you can wear a sweater and be completly comfortable, the sun shining through the trees, so, so pretty. I love it.

Well, the cake is done cooling off! I'm going to go put the icing on.
